525044 Suburban GAS VALVE SF

(Replaces 161122)

Fits SF‑20/25/30/35/42 and SF‑20/25/30/35/42F, plus SF‑Q and SF‑FQ furnaces

(For standard SF models, F‑series, and Q/FQ variants — above serial number 971303163)

The Suburban 525044 is the OEM‑spec 12‑volt DC gas valve used across many Suburban SF‑series furnaces. It is the direct replacement for the older 161122 valve and is engineered to deliver the correct propane flow and timing required for safe ignition and stable burner operation.

This valve is used on both the standard SF furnaces and the upgraded Q/FQ combustion‑housing variants. The serial‑number cutoff (above 971303163) applies to certain SF/F models that transitioned to the 161122‑style valve during production.

Furnace Compatibility

This valve fits the following Suburban furnace families:

  • SF‑20 / SF‑25 / SF‑30 / SF‑35 / SF‑42

  • SF‑20F / SF‑25F / SF‑30F / SF‑35F / SF‑42F (above serial no. 971303163)

  • SF‑20Q / SF‑25Q / SF‑30Q / SF‑35Q / SF‑42Q

  • SF‑20FQ / SF‑25FQ / SF‑30FQ / SF‑35FQ / SF‑42FQ

These models all use the same gas‑valve footprint and electrical characteristics as the 161122 valve.

What this gas valve does

  • Opens to deliver propane during ignition

  • Closes automatically when the furnace cycles off

  • Works in sync with the ignition control board

  • Maintains safe, regulated fuel flow

  • Prevents delayed ignition, flame instability, and lockouts

Symptoms of a failing gas valve

  • Furnace clicks but does not light

  • Flame lights but drops out

  • Delayed ignition “boom” or hesitation

  • Gas valve hums, buzzes, or overheats

  • Furnace cycles without producing heat

Cross‑Reference
